The conversation
From one simple idea to a global platform.
What began as a simple belief, that women needed a trusted place to talk openly about menopause, grew into Menopause Chicks: education programs, community gatherings, digital resources and a published book.
In an intimate fireside conversation, Shirley shared the foundations of building community through her journey as an educator, advocate and entrepreneur, and what it takes to create spaces where women feel safe to gather, share and learn together.

What the room took away
Three ideas worth bringing back to your business.
01
Find your passion, then find a way to make a living at it.
Shirley shared a line from Oprah that shaped her path, and told how she built Menopause Chicks around a conversation she wanted to have.
02
Build a community that feels safe to share.
Members should feel that the people who run the room are the keepers of their community, and that what they share is held with care.
03
Be brave, and be a trailblazer.
Stand up for the ideas you are passionate about, even when you are the first to say them out loud.
“The big one was about menopause, and how it’s going to help my mother.”
